Explain about Share Data Sources

Shared Data Source are the objects that represents the connection information to a data repository that report will use. These data Sources are stored in Report Services Report server Database.

When you connect repository source, must define two main elements: the name of the service to which you can connect( the name of the server or name of the database instance) and the credentials used to access the repository( in the form of User name and Password).

To modify the credentials in the share data source, navigate to the shared data source in the Report Manager and then click the data source link to display the properties.

Reporting service provides Four mechanisms for specifying the credentials used to access the data repository, as follows

Credentials Supplied By The User Running the Report:
Under this model, the user must manually enter a valid combination of user name and password to request the report. these credentials can be belongs to the internal directory of users for the database, or they can be windows credentials. If the option is selected, each User must have User Name and  Password set to access the data repository. One of the advantage of this model is that database administration can track the specific users who are accessing particular information.

Credentials Stored Securely In The Report Server:
Under this model, a single set of credentials is shared by all the users who are trying to connect to the data repository. Both the Username and password are encrypted  and stored in the reporting Services catalog. The Advantage of this credentials is that end users do not have to specify any credentials to access the data repository.

Windows Integrated Security:
This option can be user when the credentials to access the data repository are the same as those are used to log in in to the local computer to login into the Active Directory domain.

Credentials Are Not Required:
User this model, the specified data source does not need any specific credentials.
